Police & Fire
Something I think would benefit MH would be for the new police department to have a "cop beat" just like in the old days. I feel police have distance themselves from personal relationships with the public for obvious reasons. I think we need to get back to that way. Here is an article on Community Policing, which is growing in America.
With towns being the size they are today it is hard to cover ground. That is why more organizations are using Segways for covering more ground and have better public visibly. With the MH police department just starting I think it would be to our advantage to implement this. We could also tie it into alternate energy sources that I have talked about in other articles to recharge the units. Segway of Oakland has a free 2-hour training program for up to 8 people and can provide us with pricing and availability on units.
Segway of Oakland Web Quote
"We also offer free training for law enforcement agencies and for security companies. 2 hours of training for as many as 8 people in a session. You can participate in a free training program without committing to a purchase, or a rental. It's free! (and it's a great opportunity to learn to ride the Segway PT."
Maybe we can start by renting and evaluate the benefits and issues with this technology. I will create a vblog on this subject in the coming weeks and I am listing some informational web sites. I will also send Leroy Ornellas and Paul M. Sensibaugh an email on this. Any comments would be appreciated. I am on the MH Villages Forum also.
